A Dining Room Transformation

In our previous post we updated this traditional living room and now we’ll share the fresh look we gave to the dining room.  Again, there were great traditional pieces to work with already in the room. We only needed to make small furniture placement adjustments and add a few new plants and wall art to make the room feel as warm and inviting. With a few fairly simple adjustments the room was quickly done!

The fern print was inspired by this Pinterest post by Remodelholic linking to this free fern printable at the The Painted Hive.  There is a variety of free gallery wall printables if you follow the Remodelholic link.  We love botanical art.  It has a clean, simple look, and gives off almost the same feel as an actual live plant without the maintenance it takes to keep it alive.  Win!

We moved this hutch over to the left 3 feet, centering it on the wall.  Then added some art to give the wall a finished look.

We also organized the hutch shelves, grouping dishes together by type, glasses and stemware, and serving platters. By organizing the items this way in the hutch, the piece remains functional for storage, but doesn’t make the room feel cluttered.

We moved this glass hutch into the den for storage in that room.  The vintage coat rack from the living room moved into this corner and made the perfect spot to host a fresh plant.  Adding white curtains hung just below the molding added height and a finished look to this room.
